BBH Partner Tomáš Sedláček Receives Prestigious "Lawyer of the Year" at the IFLR Europe Awards 2026 in London

Tomáš Sedláček accepted the award in person during the gala ceremony held on 11 June 2026 at The Londoner hotel in London, attended by leading European lawyers, financial institutions, corporations and advisers from across the international transactional business community.

Tomáš Sedláček is widely recognised as one of the leading practitioners in the Czech legal market in the areas of banking, finance, capital markets and complex transactional work. In the 2025 edition of IFLR1000, he received the highest individual distinction, “Market Leader”. In the latest edition of Legal 500, published in early 2026, he was recognised as a “Leading Partner”. Renowned publications Chambers Global Legal Guide 2026 and Chambers Europe Legal Guide 2026 ranked him among the leading experts in the areas of Banking & Finance and Capital Markets.

Tomáš Sedláček is a Partner at BBH responsible for the Banking & Finance and Capital Markets practice groups. In addition, he has long been active in mergers and acquisitions. During more than twenty years of legal practice, he has advised on a number of landmark and pioneering transactions in the Czech market. His most notable projects include the first securitisation in the Czech Republic, the first synthetic securitisation under the CRR framework, the largest corporate bond issuance, the largest loan provided to a privately owned company in the Czech Republic, and the establishment of Energetický a průmyslový holding (EPH), which became the largest privately owned energy holding company in Central Europe.

A significant part of his practice also focuses on financial regulation. He advises financial institutions and represents clients before the Czech National Bank, including in licensing proceedings for banks and insurance companies. He is also included on the Czech National Bank’s register of approved liquidators and administrators for securities dealers, regulated market operators and settlement system operators.

Tomáš Sedláček graduated from the Faculty of Law of Masaryk University in Brno. He is fluent in Czech, English and Russian.
